100 years of World Language Leadership – Now available to K-12 Students
Middlebury Interactive Languages (MIL) is a company forged from a unique and powerful combination of Middlebury College, with nearly 100 years of academic world language excellence and K12, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of proprietary curriculum and online education programs for K-12 students.
MIL offers a rich portfolio of world language products, both on line and in brick and mortar schools, with varying levels of immersion and teaching methods designed to accommodate different learning styles. Each product is designed with the goal of language proficiency and is aligned with the national standards set by the American Council of Teaching of Foreign Language (ACTFL).
MIL Portfolio includes:
- powerspeak12 – Robust language courses with basic language immersion for grades 3-12
- Middlebury Interactive – Intensive coursework for high schools offering the most immersive online language experience today.
- MIL Professional Development –Teaching the Middlebury Methodology and more effective use of technology to keep students in language.
- Avant STAMP –Independent third-party assessment to quantify student performance for data-informed decisions.
- Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy – Full immersion summer residency program for grades 8-12 that typically advances students up to one year. Located on elite college campuses around the country.
MIL develops courses for schools. We understand the challenges of implementing a world language initiative and we are prepared to help CPS from the initial needs analysis, to strategic planning and professional development, to program evaluation and support.
Accreditation:
Being an accredited foreign language company/school through the Northwest Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities makes Middlebury Interactive Languages unique. Accreditation gives the assurance of quality and ease of credit transfer among educational institutions. The ability to provide learning support with board-certified foreign language teachers, as well as to grant credit through our school, has greatly enhanced the Middlebury Interactive Languages offering to all types of learners.
Our programs and pricing models are designed to support the way you need to purchase.
We can provide annual or multi-year subscriptions for:
- Individual student courses per semester / per year
- Open Access pricing – based on the number of students in a building, open access pricing allows students to take any courses offered throughout the year
Our courses can be purchased as:
- Course only. Self-paced on line.
- Course only with Professional Development for teachers who will be using our courses as:
- Supplemental material
- Core content
- To expand their interaction with students due to growing caseloads
- Administrator training
- Course plus Virtual Instructor
The MIL instructor will perform the following functions:
- Provide feedback to students on assignments, exams and any other questions
- Grade assignments
- Grade written and verbal test questions. Provide verbal feedback using the recording feature.
- Assign a midterm and final grade
- Encourage students to stay current with assignments, and complete the course on time
- Provide periodic messages to classes regarding assignment requirements, helpful tips, as well as deadline and holiday reminders
- Provide weekly Synchronous sessions using Eluminate
