The purpose of Dehesa Charter Program is to:

Create an educational environment in which all students can learn and succeed.
Utilize and support parental involvement in the education of their children.
Encourage students to be self-motivated and lifelong learners through self-directed learning opportunities that are initiated and pursued by the student, parent, and charter school staff.  This sense of ownership elicits enthusiasm, interest and involvement.
Foster a positive relationship between parents, students and staff of the Charter School.
Incorporate activities addressing the multiple forms of intelligence and learning styles, with the intention of raising and supporting achievement in academic learning.
Assess knowledge and demonstration of integrated learning across major subject areas through performance based assessments which may include but not be limited to journal summaries, student portfolios, presentations, observations, state and district approved standardized tests and parent-teacher conferences and meetings.

The goal at Dehesa Charter School is to create an educational environment in which all students can learn and succeed by providing materials that match each student's learning style, as well as providing support for the parent/educator through research-based instructional techniques.

The curriculum at Dehesa Charter school follows the California state frameworks, while allowing for accelerated learning as well as small group support for beginning and struggling learners.

Dehesa's particular focus uses the Multiple Intelligence Theory to promote individualized learning for each student. Textbooks and materials will be selected from many sources to facilitate independent learning for all students.

Each student will have an individualized learning plan which will serve as a roadmap over the years. It is created by the parent/educator, student, and educational facilitator to establish performance goals, track student progress, and identify special assistance or services needed by the student.
